Pekalongan (ANTARA) - The Central Java Provincial Government (Pemprov Jateng) has stated that the normalisation work on the Bremi River in Pekalongan will certainly be carried out gradually by the government. “The disaster in the Pekalongan City and Regency areas requires collaboration from various parties, including the regency government, city government, provincial government, and central government,” said Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi in Pekalongan, Central Java, on Thursday. While inspecting the site of the breached Bremi River embankment, he stated that in 2025, the central government and Pemprov Jateng have already budgeted for the normalisation of the Bremi River to ensure swift handling. In addition to this work, he said, there are several other tasks that will also be carried out collaboratively between the Pekalongan Regency Government and Pekalongan City Government, namely the repair of the Randujajar road section. “This handling is a form of the state’s presence in resolving community problems, particularly related to flooding in Pekalongan,” he said. Based on observations, the Bremi River embankment breached for approximately 20 metres due to high river flow following heavy rain that lashed the area. Emergency embankment handling has been carried out by the Regional Disaster Management Agencies of Pekalongan City and Regency, assisted by the TNI, Police, and the Central Java Provincial BPBD. The handling includes the installation of wooden stakes and sandbags, as well as pumping water that has begun entering settlements using water pipes. On that occasion, Ahmad Luthfi also handed over aid from the Central Java Provincial Government worth Rp134.90 million, divided into logistical aid for food and non-food items, rice, medicines, and school supplies. Pasirkratonkramat Ward Head Dwi Indah Widiastuti said that emergency handling has been carried out with assistance from the TNI and Police.
