Central Java Provincial Government Accelerates Preparation of National MTQ Arenas
Semarang (ANTARA) - The Central Java Provincial Government is continuing to accelerate the arrangement of arenas that will serve as locations for the 31st National Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ) in 202<0xC2>6.
Central Java Deputy Governor Taj Yasin Maimoen stated in Semarang on Friday that the venues for the National MTQ are spread across several locations within Semarang City. He made these remarks while accompanying the Assistant Deputy for Religious Affairs from the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs during a monitoring and visitation visit to assess the readiness of the 2026 National MTQ.
Several locations inspected included the Pancasila Field at Simpang Lima as the main arena, Baiturrahman Mosque, the Central Java Grand Mosque (MAJT), and the Gradhika Bhakti Praja Building.
He noted that the physical works and site arrangements for the National MTQ are now in their final stages. The administration is pushing to complete all competition arenas and opening ceremony venues so they are fully operational by 10 September, one day before the 31st National MTQ series begins.
“By 10 September, everything will be 100 per cent ready,” said Gus Yasin, his common nickname.
The monitoring results from the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs reportedly found no significant issues, meaning attention is now directed towards specific technical details, particularly for the main arena at the Pancasila Field, Simpang Lima.
He mentioned that one aspect requiring anticipation is the condition of the field during the opening ceremony, which will also feature dance performances.
“There were no negative notes from the Deputy of PMK; everything is clear and good. The only remaining focus is on the opening ceremony,” he said.
The 31st National MTQ 2026 will take place in Semarang, Central Java, from 11–20 September 2026, across 12 prepared arenas to support the event. Approximately 2,833 delegates and officials from 38 provinces are expected to attend, alongside committee members and other involved parties, bringing the total estimated attendance to around 7,000 people.
