Central Java Provincial Government: 73 Percent of Red and White Cooperatives Already Operational
Semarang (ANTARA) - The Central Java Provincial Government states that at least 73 percent of all red and white cooperatives in the region are already operational.
Head of the Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Office of Central Java, Eddy Sulistiyo Bramiyanto, in Semarang on Wednesday, conveyed that there are currently 8,523 cooperatives that have legal entity status in Central Java, with around 73 percent or 6,271 village/district red and white cooperatives already operational.
“We want to achieve 100 percent this year; that is our effort. But we are already above the national target. The national target is 60 percent. We are at 73 percent,” he said.
He conveyed this while speaking at the Media Workshop “Stories of Village Cooperatives Becoming Meaningful News” organised by the Media Ecosystem Directorate, Directorate General of Public Communication and Media, Ministry of Communication and Digital.
“These board members are truly extraordinary. They work as fighters for the village/district red and white cooperatives. They never think about honorariums. They go ahead first; the important thing is to serve their members,” he said.
Regarding capital, he stated that there is at least Rp34.6 billion in capital from the 8,523 red and white cooperatives in Central Java, consisting of primary and mandatory savings.
“For primary and mandatory savings, they vary. Some have primary savings of Rp10,000, others Rp5,000. For mandatory savings, Rp20,000, Rp30,000, Rp10,000. So, that capital is what they eventually circulate,” he said.
“Like the cooperative in Dadapsari. From the beginning Rp500,000, now it has reached Rp450 million. Because every day they produce, they go around delivering goods to members. Alhamdulillah, in the afternoon the money comes back. In the morning, they restock again,” he said.
