Central Java Police's Bhabinkamtibmas help trace 1,387 TB suspects in a week

Central Java Regional Police (Polda Jawa Tengah) are not only focusing on case identification but are also building public awareness regarding the importance of early screening, treatment adherence, and prevention efforts.

Semarang (ANTARA) - Bhabinkamtibmas personnel from the Central Java Regional Police managed to track 1,387 suspected Tuberculosis patients during a tracing period from 3 to 10 June 2026.

“In one week, 1,387 suspects have been identified,” stated the Head of the Medical and Health Division of the Central Java Regional Police, Kombes Pol. Agung Hadi, in Semarang on Sunday.

This effort, he noted, provides a tangible contribution to expanding the reach of early Tuberculosis detection within the community.

According to Agung, the presence of Bhabinkamtibmas officers, who interact with residents daily, serves as a vital strength in supporting public health programmes.

In addition to assisting the tracking process, these officers also play a role in providing education to ensure the public understands that Tuberculosis is a curable disease if treated properly and thoroughly.

“The Central Java Regional Police are not only focusing on finding cases, but also on building public awareness about the importance of early examination, compliance with treatment, and efforts to prevent transmission,” said Agung.

The ‘Find and Treat Until Cured’ Tuberculosis programme is an innovation by the Central Java Regional Police that empowers Bhabinkamtibmas officers as partners to healthcare workers in supporting Tuberculosis control efforts.

Beyond tracing close contacts, Agung continued, the Bhabinkamtibmas officers also provide education, patient assistance, and help with reporting that is integrated with local health facilities.

The Central Java Regional Police have 4,666 personnel assigned as Bhabinkamtibmas officers.
