Central Java Police Uncover Motorcycle Sales Syndicate Operating Without Proper Documentation

Semarang (ANTARA) - The Central Java Police have uncovered a syndicate selling motorcycles without official documents originating from the province, with the operation based in a warehouse in Bandung, West Java.

The Director of General Criminal Investigation at the Central Java Police, Commissioner Polisi Nasir Anwar, stated in Semarang on Wednesday that 87 units of new motorcycles without documents were seized from the warehouse in Bandung.

Police have arrested two suspects who acted as the procurers and buyers of the motorcycles sold without documents.

The two suspects, identified as S, a resident of Batang Regency, and R, a resident of Pekalongan Regency, were arrested after a trace investigation from one of the goods delivery companies in Pekalongan City.

Suspect R, Nasir continued, has known AM, the owner of the warehouse in Bandung, since 2024.

“Both suspects regularly sent motorcycles without documents from one of the courier companies in Pekalongan City to Bandung,” he said.

In the shipments, the two perpetrators only equipped the motorcycles with delivery notes from the dealer.

Nasir said that the two perpetrators had sent approximately 150 units of motorcycles obtained from various regions in Central Java to Bandung.

These dozens of motorcycles without documents were purchased on credit by borrowing other people’s ID cards. “After paying installments for a few months, the motorcycles were bought by the two suspects to be sent to Bandung,” he said.

He said that the police are still investigating the purpose of selling the motorcycles, which were still wrapped in plastic when seized in the warehouse.

In addition, the police are also still pursuing AM, who is the mastermind and owner of the warehouse.

For their actions, the two suspects are charged with Article 591 or 591 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.
