Central Java Police Uncover Illegal Drilling of Three Oil Wells in Blora
Semarang (ANTARA) - Central Java Provincial Police have uncovered suspected illegal oil well drilling practices at three locations in Perhutani-owned forest areas in Blora Regency.
Central Java Provincial Police’s Director of Special Criminal Investigation, Djoko Julianto, in Semarang on Tuesday, stated that the three illegal wells uncovered during the period from March to April 2026 had been operating for around three months.
The three illegal wells are each located in Kunduran and Japah Sub-districts in Blora Regency.
Investigators have named three suspects, each of whom are the managers and financiers of the illegal oil well operations.
The three suspects are S (50), a resident of Blora Regency, B (34), a resident of Rembang Regency, and K (51), a resident of Rembang Regency.
Police also seized several pieces of evidence, such as drilling rigs complete with pump engines, dozens of iron pipes of various sizes, as well as crude oil that had been pumped and stored in several tanks.
He said the pumped crude oil was still stockpiled and had not yet been sold.
He emphasised that the traditional drilling activities conducted illegally endanger the environment and the surrounding community.
For their actions, the suspects are charged under Law No. 2 of 2022 on Job Creation.
