Central Java Police Uncover Alleged Corruption in BPR Bank Purworejo Credit Process, State Losses Estimated at Rp41 Billion
Central Java Police (Polda Jateng) have uncovered suspected criminal corruption in the credit application and realisation process at Perumda BPR Bank Purworejo, spanning 2013 to 2023. In this case, state losses are estimated at Rp41.3 billion.
The Director of Special Crimes at Polda Jateng, Senior Commissioner Pol Djoko Julianto, revealed that they discovered a pattern of credit facility misuse carried out systematically through the “dummy credit” modus operandi. This method involved using the identities of other parties, such as family members, employees, or specific individuals, as debtors to obtain credit facilities beyond the applicable regulations.
“From the investigation results, several procedural violations were found in the credit granting process, starting from the use of dummy debtors, credit analysis not in accordance with the mechanism, to the use of collateral that does not meet the requirements,” said Djoko during a press conference at the Polda Jateng Special Crimes Directorate Headquarters in Semarang City, Wednesday (13/5/2026).
He stated that the revelation of this case stemmed from a deepening of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) audit results and reports from the Central Java Representative of the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK RI). The audit related to credit management and fund collection at Perumda BPR Bank Purworejo.
Based on the investigation results, the case is mapped into three handling clusters, namely the cluster of the Purworejo Regency BUMD Multi-Business Regional Company (PDAU), the Tri Lestari cluster, and the Alimuddin cluster. Djoko revealed that in the PDAU cluster, investigators found suspected deviations in credit applications in 2020. The modus operandi involved the use of mismatched documents and a credit analysis process without the proper procedures.
