Head of Public Relations for Central Java Police, Police Commissioner Artanto, responded to the widespread dissemination of pocong terror content across several regions in Central Java. He stated that the police cyber unit is currently tracking the accounts spreading the content.

Artanto revealed that Central Java Police have investigated the spread of photo and video content regarding pocong terror in various regions. The investigation is being conducted by several regional police stations across Central Java, including Grobogan, Pati, Magelang, Kendal, Cilacap, Kebumen, and Banjarnegara.

‘It is confirmed that most of the circulating content is false news or hoaxes or misinformation. Evidence suggests the same photos and videos are repeatedly shared across multiple platforms with only the captions altered,’ Artanto said during an interview at the Central Java Police headquarters on Tuesday (26 May 2026).

According to Artanto, security conditions in the areas allegedly facing pocong terror remain safe and conducive. There are no reports of injuries, fatalities, or material losses.

‘The Central Java Police cyber unit is tracking the main accounts spreading the hoax content. If intentional elements to spread psychological terror or public disorder are found, the police will take strict action under the applicable Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE) Law,’ Artanto added.
