Central Java Police to Deepen Probe into Officer Accused of Acid Attack on Partner
The Head of Public Relations for the Central Java Police, Commissioner Artanto, stated that the alleged acid attack by Aiptu N, a member of the Tegal City Police, against his common-law wife, MAN (30), will be thoroughly investigated. Artanto has confirmed that Aiptu N consumed methamphetamine. “This is currently being investigated. The timeline and the nature of the incident are still being clarified as each party is presenting their own version of events. The victim has her version, and Aiptu N has his. We cannot disclose this to the media yet,” Artanto said during an interview on Wednesday (8/7/2026). According to Artanto, the alleged acid attack requires statements and confirmation from both parties. “The evidence must be examined first so that the chronology matches the actual facts. Both sides are still claiming their own accounts,” he said. When asked if MAN would be presented at Aiptu N’s ethics hearing, Artanto could not confirm. “We will see how it develops based on the decision of the ethics panel chair,” he stated. Regarding whether Aiptu N is a suspect or still a witness, Artanto revealed that the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim) is still investigating the alleged assault. “Once the information is obtained and clarifications are complete, a case conference will be held to determine whether to name a suspect,” he added. He noted that the case conference will likely be held at Bareskrim because the investigation is being conducted by investigators there.
