Central Java Police Instruct Personnel to Defy Prosecutor Summons Amid MBG Corruption Probe

The Central Java Regional Police (Polda Jateng) has instructed its personnel not to comply with summonses from the District Prosecutor’s Office (Kejari) for questioning regarding the management of the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) under the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. The directive states that if an examination is unavoidable, it must be conducted at the relevant district police headquarters (Mapolres). The order was circulated via WhatsApp by the Head of the Sub-Directorate for Internal Security of the Central Java Police’s Professional and Internal Affairs Division (Kasubbidpaminal Bidpropam Polda Jateng) and addressed to all Professional and Internal Affairs section heads (Kasipropam) and police personnel. It was also copied to the Head of Public Relations (Kabidpropam) of the Central Java Police and other officials within the Professional and Internal Affairs Division. The instruction further mandates that Kasipropam re-register all SPPGs managed privately by police members and their families, and report any summonses from the prosecutor’s office, including the subject matter of the questioning. Additionally, the order requires that public service areas within police stations be guarded by provosts to prevent any ‘hand-catching operations’ by unauthorised parties. This directive emerges amidst an ongoing investigation by the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) into alleged corruption within the national MBG programme at the National Nutrition Agency (BGN), which has already named seven suspects, including two retired police generals.
