Central Java Police Detain Officer Aiptu N for Allegedly Torturing Woman, Causing 47% Burns

The handling of the alleged torture of a woman, identified by the initials MAN (30), which implicated an active police officer, has entered a new phase. Following a report filed by the victim with the Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian National Police, the Professional and Security Division (Propam) of the Central Java Regional Police immediately took action by detaining the suspect, Aiptu N, a member of the Tegal City Police. In addition to facing criminal proceedings at Bareskrim, Aiptu N is also being investigated for alleged violations of discipline and the police professional code of ethics. Central Java Police Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Artanto, stressed that the institution would not tolerate any violations by its members. ‘The individual concerned has been detained by the Central Java Police Propam Division to undergo proceedings in accordance with applicable regulations. We ensure that the entire process is carried out professionally, objectively, transparently, and accountably,’ he stated on Friday. Artanto explained that the criminal investigation is fully under the authority of Bareskrim, while the Central Java Police Propam Division is focusing on the ethical and disciplinary proceedings against Aiptu N. He assured that the process would be conducted without favouritism. ‘Any police officer who commits a criminal act or violates the Police Professional Code of Ethics will be dealt with firmly according to the law and applicable regulations, without exception,’ he said. The case came to public attention following reports of alleged violence involving an active police officer. A 30-year-old woman reported her husband to Bareskrim for alleged repeated abuse, confinement, forced drug consumption, and torture that left her with burns on nearly half of her body. The report was filed by the Hotman 911 legal team on Thursday and was received under report number LP/B/295/VII/2026/SPKT/BARESKRIM POLRI. The victim’s legal counsel stated that after the report was received, the victim was immediately questioned by investigators for several hours with around 20 questions before being taken to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital for a medical examination.
