Central Java Police Arrest Drug Courier in Semarang, Seize 12 Packages of Narcotics
The Central Java Regional Police’s Narcotics Directorate has uncovered a methamphetamine distribution operation in Semarang with the arrest of a 35-year-old man, identified by the initials HF, who is suspected of acting as a drug courier. Police seized 12 packages of methamphetamine with a total gross weight of approximately 4.89 grams from the suspect.
Director of Narcotics Investigation for the Central Java Police, Senior Commissioner Yos Guntur, stated that the arrest stemmed from public information regarding suspected drug distribution in the Gajahmungkur sub-district area. Following an investigation, officers apprehended HF on Thursday (16/7/2026) at around 5 p.m. local time at his mother’s rented house.
“Interrogation revealed that the suspect was still storing methamphetamine at his rented accommodation in Sampangan. During a search, officers discovered 12 packages of methamphetamine along with digital scales, a mobile phone, plastic clips, tape, a cardboard box, cigarette packs, and a motorcycle suspected of being used for drug distribution activities,” said Senior Commissioner Yos Guntur.
Based on the examination, HF admitted he had only been working as a courier for about a week under the orders of an individual identified as K, who is now on the wanted list. In return, the suspect received a payment of Rp500,000 transferred to his personal bank account.
The Central Java Police emphasised that the investigation will be further developed to pursue the supplier and uncover a wider narcotics distribution network. The Head of Public Relations for the Central Java Police, Senior Commissioner Artanto, urged the public to continue playing an active role in reporting suspected drug abuse or distribution. He assured that the identity of informants would be protected and that all information would be followed up professionally.
HF is currently being held along with the evidence at the Central Java Police Narcotics Directorate to undergo further investigation and will be charged under the provisions of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics and other applicable regulations.
