Central Java Police and IPOT Collaborate to Provide Esports Financial Literacy at Kapolda Jateng Cup 2026
Thousands of participants and visitors packed De Tjolomadoe Convention Hall in Karanganyar Regency on Saturday (20/6/2026) for the Kapolda Jateng Cup 2026, a Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) esports tournament serving as a qualifier for the Kapolri Cup 2026. Central Java Police Chief Inspector General Ribut Hari Wibowo officially opened the team-based competition, which featured rigorous tiered selection from the police resort level, describing it as a positive platform for youth to cultivate a champion mentality and sportsmanship.
Inspector General Ribut Hari Wibowo emphasised that the competition reflects the Central Java Police’s commitment to engaging with young people, particularly the digital generation, through a positive, creative, and competitive space. He stated that esports is not merely about gaming but also a means to build discipline, teamwork, sportsmanship, strategic ability, and a fighting spirit among the youth. ‘Through this activity, the Central Java Police invites students and esports communities to be part of a modern public safety movement, using technology wisely, avoiding negative digital behaviours, and helping to maintain unity and public security,’ he said.
Amid the tournament, which offered a total prize pool of Rp200 million and a Most Valuable Player (MVP) title, PT Indo Premier Sekuritas (IPOT) launched a financial literacy programme called ‘Generasi Jateng Cerdas Rupiah’ targeting the esports community and young generation. The initiative leveraged the Gen-Z festival atmosphere to provide financial education aimed at shifting the digital community’s perspective on their financial futures.
President Director and CEO of PT Indo Premier Sekuritas, Moleonoto The, highlighted the significant overlap between the Mobile Legends esports community and the young investors who are now the backbone of the national capital market. However, he pointed out a critical anomaly behind the massive growth: the Fear of Missing Out (FOMO) phenomenon. Citing 2025 data from the OJK’s National Financial Literacy and Inclusion Survey (SNLIK), he noted that while financial inclusion among 18-25 year olds has surged to 89.96%, their financial literacy level only reached 73.22%. This 16.74% gap serves as a stark warning that one in five young people invest without understanding the risks, resulting in low market activity where only one in 14 registered investors transacts monthly.
He affirmed that as a comprehensive investment platform covering mutual funds, bonds, ETFs, and stocks, with Assets Under Management (AUM) reaching approximately Rp312 trillion and over one million clients, IPOT is strengthening its role as a pioneer National AI Transformation Platform. Through its involvement in the Kapolda Jateng Cup 2026, IPOT is democratising access to advanced AI trading features such as LADI and the AI Real-Time Cockpit, previously only available to large global institutions, making them free for all young retail investors in Indonesia. This transformation elevates IPOT beyond a conventional securities firm into an integrated financial literacy hub, where AI Robo Trading technology automatically acts as a capital protector and enforces investment discipline to avoid emotional bias.
‘We believe the esports community possesses the ability to read data, maintain discipline, and make quick decisions. These are the exact characteristics needed in investing,’ he said. ‘Through education and AI technology, and as the pioneer of the AI Transformation Platform in Indonesia, we want to help the younger generation turn these skills into a foundation for building a better financial future.’
Equity Analyst Brigita Kinari delivered an educational session titled ‘The Secret to Becoming a Pro Player in Finance in the AI Era’, successfully breaking the stigma that financial literacy is complicated and boring. IPOT demonstrated that the digital dexterity, data reading, and macro tactics used by players in the MLBB arena have substantive similarities with capital management strategies in real-world financial markets. ‘In the AI era, those left behind are not people without money, but people who do not know how to manage their money,’ she stated, inviting the gaming community to align their in-game skills into four Smart Money capabilities. Visitors were then guided through face-to-face consultations with licensed financial advisors to open accounts securely and were challenged with booth activities offering protected xRDN IPOT investment balance prizes, prepared as initial capital for young gamers to practise investment discipline from an early stage.
