The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of Central Java is training 20 drug rehabilitation clients from the Enggal Waras Pratama Clinic, managed by the agency, to acquire professional barista skills.

Speaking in Semarang on Monday, the Head of BNN Central Java, Toton Rasyable, stated that rehabilitation should not focus solely on recovery from narcotics addiction. “It must also be capable of forming productive, independent individuals who are ready to resume their social functions within society,” he said.

According to Rasyid, the success of rehabilitation is measured not only by the cessation of drug abuse but also by an individual’s ability to rise, create, and live productively. Therefore, BNN continues to strive to provide programmes that offer real-world skills, ensuring clients have greater opportunities for economic and social independence after completing their rehabilitation.

He added that the coffee industry currently offers significant employment and entrepreneurial opportunities, particularly for the younger generation interested in the service and entrepreneurship sectors. Through this training, participants receive material covering the introduction to types and characteristics of coffee beans, coffee processing, brewing techniques, the use of modern coffee equipment, the preparation of espresso-based drinks, and customer service according to industry standards.
