SEMARANG — The Head of the Central Java Provincial Department of Manpower and Transmigration (Disnakertrans) has reminded companies in the province that they must pay workers their mandatory religious holiday allowance (THR) no later than seven days before Eid al-Fitr. The department, working alongside manpower offices in regencies and cities, has conducted outreach to ensure companies comply with their THR obligations.

Aziz explained that the requirement for companies to provide THR to workers is regulated under Law No. 36 of 2021 on Wages and Ministerial Regulation No. 6 of 2016 on Religious Holiday Allowances. “Workers have the right to receive their THR payment no later than seven days before Eid al-Fitr, as stipulated in these regulations,” Aziz said during a press briefing at the department’s office in Semarang on Monday, 2 March 2026.

He noted that in cases where companies fail to meet their THR payment obligations to employees, Disnakertrans Jateng can impose administrative sanctions. “These administrative sanctions can be issued verbally or in writing. An example of written sanctions includes inspection notes. There are also other types of sanctions available,” he said.

According to Aziz, there are currently 263,758 companies registered with Disnakertrans Jateng that are obligated to pay THR to their employees. The total number of workers affected exceeds 2.4 million people.
