Central Java Governor’s Hard Enduro Cup boosts local economy in Kendal
Semarang (ANTARA) — The Gubernur Jateng Cup PETE Indonesia Hard Enduro, held in Kendal Regency, Central Java, on Sunday, helped stimulate economic activity among residents near the competition venue.
Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi said the local tourism and accommodation sectors, as well as micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), had benefited from the influx of visitors and spectators.
He said the event served as a sporting occasion and a means of strengthening solidarity between the government and the public. “This is a form of solidarity and togetherness among the community,” he said.
The event also gave provincial, regency and village government officials an opportunity to meet and interact directly with residents, he said.
A total of 135 riders took part in the Gubernur Cup Jateng PETE Indonesia Hard Enduro, held at Argon Enduro Park in Sidomukti village, Weleri district, Kendal Regency.
Competition organising committee chair Arif Yulianto said the event was also designed to support the development of sports-based tourism in Central Java. Kendal’s natural terrain and challenging track, he said, held appeal for the motoring community.
The arrival of competitors, their families and spectators could also boost tourism, accommodation, food businesses and local trade. The organisers specifically included local MSMEs by providing space for them to sell goods during the competition.
“We want to ensure that this event also delivers a tangible economic impact for the local community,” he said.
Arif said he hoped the competition would grow into a sustainable sporting event.
The programme included more than motorsport competition: organisers also held a group exercise session with residents in the morning, provided assistance to orphans and planted trees.
These activities broadened community participation and brought sport, social care and environmental conservation together in a single event.
