Central Java Governor: Road Repairs Must Not Be Done Carelessly
Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi has emphasised that road repair works must not be carried out carelessly, but must instead prioritise quality. “Do not be haphazard. It must be done professionally,” the Governor stated in Semarang on Friday.
He requested that road sections with severe damage receive priority treatment. “Agencies and departments must pay attention to this. As soon as there are potholes or heavy damage, it must become a priority for handling,” he said.
In addition to optimising regional budgets, he urged all officials to seriously oversee proposals for central government assistance through ministries and the House of Representatives (DPR RI). The goal is to accelerate infrastructure development in Central Java. He also called on his staff to respond swiftly to public complaints, particularly regarding infrastructure conditions. According to the Governor, various complaints that go viral on social media should serve as material for evaluation to ensure the government is more responsive to community needs. He expressed gratitude for constructive criticism and feedback, viewing it as an essential part of positive collaboration between the government and the public.
In an effort to improve public services across various sectors—not only infrastructure but also clothing, food, housing, education, and public health—the provincial government has planned extensive works. Based on data, for the 2026 fiscal year, road improvement projects will be undertaken on several routes, including Wiradesa-Kajen, Wanayasa-Kalibening, Brigjen Sudiarto, Jepara-Keling, Kudus-Colo, Todanan-Ngawen, and Demak-Godong.
Other planned projects include the Singget/Grobogan-Doplang-Cepu border road, Kuwu-Galeh, Galeh-Ngrampal, Sirampog-Bumiayu, the development of the Kalijambe rescue lane, and the Salatiga-Kedungjati/Grobogan border road. Furthermore, road rehabilitation will be conducted on the Pati-Tayu, Pati-Kayen-Sukolilo, Jepara-Kudus, Patikraja-Kaliori, Sidareja-Cukangleusleus, and Karanganyar-Tawangmangu-Kalisoro sections, as well as Ngadirojo-Biting (East Java border), Ngadirojo-Giriwoyo, Wonogiri-Manyaran-Blimbing, Sapuran-Kepil, Bandungsari-Panangapan, and Bandungsari-Salem.
Additionally, the Central Java Provincial Government will undertake the replacement of the Dengkeng Bridge in Klaten Regency (Karangwuni-DIY border). In the same year, rehabilitation works are also scheduled for the Lusi Putat Bridge (northern Purwodadi ring road), Jurang Gowang Bridge (Kutoarjo-Bruno, Purworejo), Kalidawe Bridge (Parakan-Patean), and Krompeng Bridge (Kajen-Batang). Beyond these specific repairs, the provincial government will also conduct routine maintenance on 2,414.59 kilometres of provincial roads across 173 sections and 26,445.77 metres of provincial bridges.
