Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi has commented on the anti-corruption operation conducted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in Cilacap Regency. He stated that the provincial government has repeatedly emphasised the importance of integrity for all public officials in the region.

According to Luthfi, the emphasis on integrity has been communicated to regional heads, deputy regional heads, and civil servants. He expressed regret over the incident, particularly given that two previous regents in Central Java—from Pati and Pekalongan regencies—had been implicated in corruption cases.

“I have repeatedly stressed and emphasised the matter of integrity,” said Luthfi in Semarang on Saturday, 14 March 2026.

He explained that the Central Java Provincial Government has also established cooperation with the KPK in efforts to prevent corruption. Through a supervisory prevention coordination programme, regional heads and members of regional legislative assemblies have received guidance on the importance of clean governance.

Additionally, during the previous World Anti-Corruption Day commemoration, regional officials were reminded to avoid budget deviations and always comply with applicable legal provisions.

Regarding the legal process being conducted by the KPK against the Cilacap Regent, Luthfi affirmed that the provincial government respects the steps taken by the anti-corruption agency. He hopes this incident will serve as a lesson for all public officials.

“This is a lesson for all of us public officials, particularly regents and mayors, to possess strong integrity. Integrity is not merely spoken—it must be realised through action,” he stressed.

According to him, integrity must be reflected in concrete conduct: not breaking the law and not abusing authority. This is important so that the bureaucracy can function properly and provide optimal service to the public.

“Clean governance and good governance must be the foundation for regents and mayors, including all civil servants in the regions,” he added.

On this occasion, Luthfi also requested that the Cilacap Regency Government maintain its public service performance. He emphasised that service to the public must continue to operate optimally, particularly as the local government prepares various services to manage the Lebaran 2026 exodus and return migration.
