Central Java Governor: National MTQ to Strengthen Collaboration and Togetherness
Semarang (ANTARA) - The Governor of Central Java, Ahmad Luthity, emphasised that the 31st National Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an (MTQ) 2026 serves as a means to strengthen collaboration and togetherness among various elements of society.
“The implementation of the MTQ across several universities demonstrates the strong collaboration in ensuring the success of this national event,” he stated while inspecting several MTQ National competition branches in Semarang on Monday.
Several National MTQ competitions have been hosted at campuses such as Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Walisongo, Universitas Diponegoro (Undip) Semarang, and others.
According to the Governor, universities are not merely providing venues but are also playing an active role in spreading the message of the Al-Quran to the public.
“I have checked the implementation of the Fahmil Al-Quran at UIN (Walisongo). Today, we also inspected the calligraphy competition at Undip. I would like to express my gratitude to the Rectors of UIN Walisongo and Undip for providing these facilities,” he said.
This spirit of togetherness was also evident through the involvement of multi-faith communities during the MTQ National opening ceremonies. Students from non-Muslim schools participated in the simultaneous singing of the MTQ Mars, an event that set a MURI (Indonesian Museum of Records) record.
“The MTQ does not belong solely to the Muslim community. Non-Muslim communities are also involved. Yesterday, our students from Christian schools participated in the singing of the MTQ Mars, which broke the MURI record,” he noted.
He added that the involvement of various social groups demonstrates that the values of the Al-Quran can serve as a strength in maintaining tolerance, unity, and peace.
“The Musabaqah Tilawatil Qur’an belongs to the entire community. This is a form of ‘rahmatan lil alamin’ (a blessing for all creation). Religious tolerance is highly needed, and through this activity, everyone can unite,” he said.
He expressed hope that the atmosphere of peace and togetherness fostered during the National MTQ would continue beyond the competition and be nurtured within society.
“It is my hope that through the 31st National MTQ, Central Java can broadcast peace to all of Indonesia and even the world,” he said.
The Rector of Undip, Suharnomo, expressed pride in his university being entrusted as one of the venues for the 31st National MTQ. Undip has prepared two locations: the Prof. Soedarto SH Building and the Imam Bardjo Auditorium.
“We are very proud and will support this to the best of our ability, providing the best possible facilities to ensure the success of the National MTQ in Central Java,” he said.
