Central Java Governor Leads Eid al-Adha Prayer with Huntara Residents in Tegal, Presents Presidential Sacrificial Animal
The atmosphere of Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah at the temporary housing (Huntara) for landslide disaster victims in Capar Village, Jatinegara District, Tegal Regency, Central Java, was filled with emotion and solidarity on Wednesday (27/5).
Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi attended in person along with Tegal Regent Ischak Maulana Rohman and Vice Regent Ahmad Kholid. They conducted the Eid al-Adha prayer alongside disaster-affected residents currently residing in the Huntara area.
Governor Ahmad Luthfi and his delegation were warmly welcomed by the community. Upon arrival, the governor immediately greeted residents and worshippers who had filled the Capar Huntara Mosque since early morning. He then performed ablutions and joined the congregation in the prayer rows.
Ahmad Luthfi stated that the Eid al-Adha prayers conducted by the community at Huntara Capar hold the same sanctity as Muslims performing the Hajj rituals in the Holy Land.
‘The limitations currently faced by the residents do not diminish the significance of their worship and devotion to Allah SWT,’ said Ahmad Luthfi.
The governor acknowledged the hardship faced by the community since the landslide disaster forced them to leave their homes and stay temporarily in Huntara. ‘I urge fathers and mothers to maintain their spirit, unity, and gratitude amidst the ongoing recovery,’ Ahmad Luthfi added.
The governor emphasised that the government would not stand idle regarding the plight of disaster-affected communities. The Central Java Provincial Government and Tegal Regency Government are continuously working to ensure residents’ basic needs are met.
‘All shortcomings and what is provided now must still be appreciated. Trust that you will not be abandoned or neglected by the state,’ he stressed.
During the event, the Central Java Governor also presented a 906-kilogram Angus sacrificial cow. The animal came from the governor’s personal budget as a gesture of concern for the disaster victims.
Together with Tegal Regent Ischak Maulana Rohman, Ahmad Luthfi also handed over a sacrificial animal from President Prabowo Subianto to the Huntara Capar community. The presentation was enthusiastically received by residents.
Beyond participating in the Eid al-Adha rituals, Ahmad Luthfi inspected the ongoing construction of 420 Huntara units, built to accommodate landslide-affected residents pending permanent relocation and recovery efforts.
‘The Central Java Provincial Government and Tegal Regency are coordinating to ensure basic facilities at the Huntara site — clean water, sanitation, places of worship, and other community needs — are adequately provided,’ he concluded. (JI/E-4)
