Central Java Governor Emphasises Collaboration and Integration for Regional Development
A retreat organised by the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) of Indonesia took place from 15 to 19 April and was attended by around 500 chairs of provincial, regency, and city DPRDs from across Indonesia.
During the event, Ahmad Luthfi stated that regional development requires collaboration from multiple parties. In his view, integration is also needed between the central government, provinces, regencies/cities, and villages, including with various community elements.
“We are engaging regents and mayors, as well as the Central Java DPRD through the Berlian Forum, and then the Senayan Forum, which consists of DPR members from any party in the Central Java electoral district. We are creating a super team,” said Ahmad Luthfi in a written statement on Thursday (16/4/2026).
He assessed that the DPRD is a strategic partner for local governments in development. Therefore, collaboration must continue to be strengthened. According to him, all parties cannot operate independently but must move together so that regional issues can be resolved holistically and comprehensively.
On the other hand, the Governor of Lemhannas RI, Ace Hasan Syadzily, said the event is expected to provide a more complete perspective to DPRD leaders across Indonesia. Moreover, the current situation is assessed as no longer progressing linearly but moving rapidly amid uncertainty.
“This world’s changes greatly influence the complexity of an uncertain global economy. In such a landscape, leadership must not only be present physically but also be able to read global geopolitics or all occurring changes,” said Ace Hasan.
According to Ace, the DPRD has an important role in guiding and supporting national goals as well as President Prabowo Subianto’s Asta Cita. He emphasised that the DPRD not only carries out legislative, budgeting, and oversight functions but also plays a role in maintaining harmony between national interests and local aspirations.
“The DPRD must be able to formulate and design our development. Budget and policy decisions must be directed to contribute to the community and the Indonesian nation,” he explained.
Ace also expressed thanks to all parties who have supported the implementation of the National DPRD Leadership Meeting across Indonesia, including Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto said there are three perspectives that have been conveyed by the Lemhannas Governor. First, the perspective in viewing geopolitical phenomena. Second, the perspective on priority programmes. Third, the perspective in managing government and carrying out duties.
