Central Java Governor Commemorates Labour Day with Healthy Walk with Workers

Semarang (ANTARA) - Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi commemorated Labour Day together with thousands of workers from various regions in the province through a healthy walk event held at Alun-Alun Bung Karno, Semarang Regency, on Friday. The Governor expressed appreciation to the workers for the contributions they have made. He stated that Labour Day is not merely an annual ceremony, but a moment to recognise the struggles of workers in fulfilling their rights and obligations. “You are the heroes in developing the economy of Central Java Province,” he said. He also appreciated the harmonious industrial relations that have been established between entrepreneurs, government, and workers in Central Java. He assessed that this harmony is the key to regional economic stability. He cited the local government’s quick response in setting the District Minimum Wage (UMK) in the previous year as a reason why street actions have begun to decrease. “Aspirations do not have to always take to the streets if communication is smooth,” he said.
