The stability of national roads has already reached 93.5 per cent.

Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi has called for the rapid acceleration of repairs to a road collapse that severed the connection between Plompong Village and Cilibur Village, Paguyangan District, Brebes Regency. In addition to restoring access for residents, repairs are also expected to quickly address the impacts felt by the school environment around the location.

This was conveyed by Luthfi whilst accompanying Brebes Regent Paramitha and related officials in an inspection of SMP Muhammadiyah 3 in Cilibur Village, which was affected by the landslide, on Wednesday (11 March). The landslide occurred on Sunday (8 March) and caused the road surface to subside, rendering the main route between Plompong Village and Cilibur Village impassable. The landslide also caused one toilet building belonging to SMP Muhammadiyah 3 to be swept away.

Governor Ahmad Luthfi stressed that the repair process should be carried out as quickly as possible so that community activities can return to normal. He also paid particular attention to teaching and learning activities at the affected school.

“Let us not allow the teaching and learning process for students to be disrupted. If the school needs to relocate, we will assist it wherever the location is, so that educational activities continue to run well,” said Ahmad Luthfi while inspecting the landslide site at the local school on Wednesday (11 March).

Brebes Regent Paramitha Widya Kusuma stated that the collapsed road is a vital access point for the community as it is the main route connecting Plompong Village and Cilibur Village.

According to Paramitha, the regional government through relevant agencies has conducted an initial assessment at the incident location and is preparing temporary handling measures whilst awaiting the permanent repair process.

“The road is a main route for the community. We have deployed a team to conduct initial handling and prepare repair measures so that residents’ access can be quickly restored,” explained Paramitha.

The regional government hopes that the handling process can progress quickly so that community mobility resumes and teaching and learning activities at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 continue without hindrances.

On this occasion, the governor also handed over financial assistance of Rp26 million and bags and school uniforms to a number of students at SMP Muhammadiyah 3 Paguyangan.
