Central Java Governor Assures Sufficient LPG Stock, Urges Public Not to Panic
Governor of Central Java Ahmad Luthfi stated this during his inspection of the Wijaya Sarana Gasindo Bulk LPG Filling and Transportation Station (SPPBE) in Karanganyar Regency on Wednesday (8/4).
“We have checked the availability of LPG. The LPG supply in Central Java Province is very sufficient,” Luthfi said in a written statement on Wednesday (8/4/2026).
Luthfi mentioned that there is no reason for shortages or difficulties with LPG. Therefore, the public is asked not to panic, especially to engage in illegal actions such as hoarding and the like.
“No need to panic. I repeat, our LPG availability is six times the normal amount,” he said.
In addition, the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimsus) of the Central Java Police is continuously monitoring LPG distribution, particularly 3kg LPG. This is necessary to ensure that subsidised LPG distribution is on target, namely for household consumption, especially for low-income communities, fishermen with vessels under 5 GT, tenant farmers, and micro-enterprises.
“3kg LPG should not be used for laundry businesses, companies, and so on. That is what we must carry out operations and enforcement against. Including illegal actions such as injection or hoarding. So availability, distribution, and affordability are three important things,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the total number of LPG bases in Central Java is around 54,235 locations or 21% of the national total. On average, there are 6 units of 3kg LPG bases per village/sub-district in Central Java. Therefore, the supervision also involves Regents/Mayors and their apparatus in the regencies/cities.
Luthfi emphasised that there will be firm sanctions if violations such as hoarding, injection, and the like are found. The Provincial Government has coordinated with the police to address this.
Meanwhile, Executive General Manager of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Central Java Region, Fanda Chrismianto, appreciated the support from the Governor of Central Java and the police to ensure smooth and targeted LPG and fuel distribution according to their intended use.
“We urge wise use of energy, saving energy, and we ensure that energy use is not wasted,” he said.
He also requested active public involvement if illegal practices are found in their area, to immediately report to the authorities so that firm legal action can be taken.
