Central Java Governor assures investment climate remains conducive
Semarang (ANTARA) - The Governor of Central Java, Ahmad Luthfi, has ensured that the investment climate in his region remains conducive, despite the world facing various global geopolitical challenges and fiscal pressures.
“Central Java remains an attractive region for developing investment, particularly in labour-intensive industries, though capital-intensive industries are also possible,” he stated in Semarang on Tuesday night.
Central Java is considered a magnet for investors due to the various facilities and support prepared by the local government.
Ahmad Luthfi made this statement during a Business Dinner event with business actors and economic stakeholders from across Central Java, attended by 105 investors and entrepreneurs. The attendees included foreign direct investors (PMA), domestic direct investors (PMDN), industrial estate managers, and representatives from Bank Jateng.
Consequently, the Central Java Provincial Government continues to strengthen investment competitiveness through the simplification of licensing, security guarantees, and the provision of ready-to-use labour via vocational training centres, vocational education, and universities.
These efforts are beginning to show results. In the period of January-March 2026, investment realisation in Central Java reached IDR 23.02 trillion, representing 23.23 per cent of this year’s investment target of IDR 99.09 trillion.
This investment consists of IDR 12.98 trillion in foreign direct investment (PMA) and IDR 10.04 trillion in domestic direct investment (PMDN), absorbing approximately 92,000 workers from 24,957 projects.
Meanwhile, throughout 2025, Central Java’s investment realisation reached IDR 110.64 trillion, with the absorption of 418,138 workers.
In addition to strengthening investment services, the Central Java Provincial Government is also preparing the development of 12 new industrial zones spread across the Regencies of Rembang, Demak, Kendal, Batang, Brebes, Cilacap, Banyumas, Kebumen, Boyolali, Grobogan, and Semarang City.
Logistics infrastructure is being strengthened through the development of the Tanjung Emas Port in Semarang and dry ports (loading and unloading facilities) in the Batang and Kendal Industrial Estates to support industrial activities.
On this occasion, Luthfi also encouraged investors to utilise Bank Jateng’s services as part of the regional investment ecosystem. According to him, using the bank will strengthen economic circulation in Central Java, as the majority of Bank Jateng’s shares are owned by district, city, and provincial governments.
Meanwhile, the President Director of Bank Jateng, Bambang Widyatmoko, stated that the bank is ready to serve as a strategic partner for investors through investment financing services, working capital, and banking transactions. Bank Jateng is also opening wider opportunities for cooperation with business actors to support investment growth in Central Java.
