Central Java Government Urges Bottled Water Industry to Protect the Environment
The bottled water industry must always prioritise environmental sustainability, as the sector relies heavily on the utilisation of water resources.
Semarang (ANTARA) - The Central Java Provincial Government has requested bottled water producers (AMDK) within the region to consistently maintain environmental sustainability.
During an audience with the Nusantara Bottled Water Entrepreneurs Association (Amdatara) for Central Java and the Special Region of Yogyakarta in Semarang on Wednesday, Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi stated that groundwater usage in Central Java must be managed sustainably.
He noted that the bottled water industry needs to pay close attention to environmental continuity, given its dependence on water resource exploitation.
Consequently, industry players are urged to comply with regulations regarding groundwater usage restrictions and to strengthen conservation programmes through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
“The restrictions on groundwater usage must be strictly adhered to,” said the former Central Java Police Chief.
Ahmad Luthfi encouraged the bottled water industry to implement circular economy principles, save water and energy, reduce emissions, and strengthen partnerships with waste banks.
Meanwhile, the General Chairman of Amdatara, Karyanto Wibowo, stated that the national bottled water industry has currently grown by approximately 5.5 per cent.
Out of approximately 710 bottled water companies in Indonesia, roughly 130 are located within the Central Java region.
His organisation agreed to prioritise environmental sustainability, particularly regarding water conservation and plastic waste management.
