Central Java Government Sends 16 Personnel and Thousands of Logistics Packages to NTT
The shipment is the first phase of assistance from the Central Java Provincial Government. In addition to food and non-food logistics, the team is also bringing health support to assist with emergency handling in the affected areas.
Luthfi said he continues to monitor developments in NTT. He also asked the team to coordinate immediately with the NTT Provincial Government upon arrival so that the aid can be distributed according to the needs of the community.
“Every day we update activities so that the aid is truly well targeted. So, make sure the aid is well targeted,” Luthfi said in his statement on Monday (17/8/2026).
He reminded all personnel to maintain solidarity and prioritise safety during the long journey by land and sea. The team was asked not to rush and to ensure that all personnel and aid arrive safely.
Luthfi also advised the volunteers to uphold the good name of Central Java and provide the best service to communities affected by the disaster.
“Uphold the dignity of Central Java. This is a humanitarian activity. Give your best, showing that Central Java cares deeply for people in need,” he stressed.
He considered the humanitarian mission a mandate that must be carried out with full responsibility and sincerity. The volunteers were also asked to equip themselves with prayers while carrying out their duties.
Luthfi also confirmed that support from Central Java will not stop with the first shipment. He has asked the Regional Secretary and Deputy Governor of Central Java to coordinate with district and city governments to prepare follow-up assistance.
“The Regional Secretary and Deputy Governor are coordinating with other regents and mayors to plan the second phase. This is only the first phase because conditions there are very fluid,” he said.
On that occasion, Luthfi also expressed his condolences to people who lost family members due to the disaster.
“I express my deepest condolences and sympathy for the deaths of our brothers and sisters in the NTT region,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Acting Head of the Central Java Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), Bergas Catursasi Penanggungan, reported that the 16 dispatched personnel came from the Central Java Provincial BPBD, Temanggung Regency BPBD, Banjarnegara Regency BPBD, the Social Service, the Health Service, and the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Central Java.
The personnel are divided into three functions: Urban Search and Rescue (SAR), logistics, and health. They will assist with emergency handling and the distribution of aid to affected communities.
The food aid sent includes four tonnes of rice, ready-to-eat meals, biscuits, basic food packages, and medicines. Aid in this category totalled 3,795 packages.
In addition, there are 1,115 packages of clothing and family needs, including mattresses, blankets, folding beds, sarongs, towels, house dresses, family kits, baby and adult nappies, and other family supplies.
The Central Java Provincial Government also sent 6,587 packages of shelter and supporting equipment. The aid includes tarpaulins, roll-up tents, family tents, field kitchens, emergency lights, laundry soap, bath soap, shampoo, and bathing supplies.
Bergas said all the aid was collected from regional apparatus organisations within the Central Java Provincial Government, Temanggung Regency BPBD, Banjarnegara Regency BPBD, the Central Java National Alms Agency (Baznas), Central Java PMI, the Central Java Regional Scout Council (Pramuka Kwarda), the Telogorejo Foundation, Phapros, and several regional-owned enterprises in Central Java.
To support the humanitarian mission, 10 vehicles were also dispatched, consisting of six trucks, two double-cabin cars, and two motorcycles. The convoy will travel by land and sea from Semarang to Tanjung Perak, Lembar, Kayangan, Poto Tano, Sape, Labuan Bajo, Nagekeo, and Ende.
The field post in Ende Regency is the team’s main destination. The volunteers will also help distribute logistics to Manggarai, East Manggarai, and Sikka Regencies.
One volunteer from the Social Service’s Tagana, Agus Budianto, said the team from Central Java is ready to help affected communities. He also invited the Indonesian public to show concern for the people of NTT.
“To our brothers and sisters in East Nusa Tenggara, you are not alone. We, the contingent from Central Java, are ready to help and extend a hand to heal the wounds of our brothers and sisters there,” he concluded.
