Central Java Government Launches 333 Affordable Food Campaigns to Control Staple Prices

Gubernur Jawa Tengah Ahmad Luthfi said the programme is an effort by the Central Java provincial government to stabilise the prices of staple goods (bapok). It also aims to ease for the public to access bapok throughout Ramadan 2026. In addition, Luthfi appreciated the GPM carried out under the coordination of the Dinas Ketahanan Pangan. The activity is a concrete step to ensure the public can obtain essential staple goods at affordable prices and to curb inflation. He made the remarks while inspecting and opening the Gerakan Pangan Murah Serentak at the West Semarang District Office yard today.

Sejauh ini, lanjut Luthfi, harga bahan pokok penting di Jawa Tengah relatif stabil. Lonjakan harga hanya terjadi pada cabai. Di mana harga rata-rata konsumen sekitar Rp 81.000 per kilogram or higher 42.2% from the government reference price (HAP) of Rp 57.000 per kilogram.

“This becomes a model for us so that price affordability can be reached by our people,” Luthfi said in a written statement, Friday (6/3/2026).

Sementara itu, Kepala Dinas Ketahanan Pangan Provinsi Jawa Tengah Dyah Lukisari said the GPM has been carried out 333 times. That figure has surpassed the initial target. “As of yesterday, GPM had been implemented 333 times. That means it has exceeded the target,” Dyah Lukisari said.

Meskipun begitu, Gerakan Pangan Murah still continues to be carried out by the Central Java Provincial Government. One of the campaigns is launching a simultaneous cheap food movement held in 35 regencies/cities. The activity was opened directly by Ahmad Luthfi and attended online by 31 regencies/cities across Central Java. Four areas — Brebes, Wonogiri, Boyolali, and Tegal — had already held the GPM earlier on Thursday, 5 March 2026.

Adapun komoditas yang disalurkan dalam GPM serentak ini antara lain beras with total 74 tonnes, gula pasir 7,250 kilograms, minyak goreng 21,000 litres, telur ayam ras 11,500 kilograms, and bawang putih 3,400 kilograms.

“Sejauh ini GPM yang dilakukan di Provinsi Jawa Tengah sudah bagus. Ini semua berkat dukungan Pak Gubernur, Bank Indonesia Perwakilan Jawa Tengah dan Tim Pengendali Inflasi daerah (TPID) Jawa Tengah,” jelasnya.

Gerakan Pangan Murah that is organized was directly felt by the public. They who came shopping reported they were happy because they could buy at prices cheaper than in markets.

“Belanja sayur, minyak, sama beras. Harganya miring. Minyakita biasanya Rp 19 ribu sampai Rp 20 ribu, di sini dapat Rp 15.500. Beras biasanya yang premium Rp 16.000 per kilogram, di sini Rp 62.500 per 5 kilogram,” tutup Eni, a resident of Semarang Barat.
