Central Java Government Grants Civil Servants Flexibility for First Day of School

The Provincial Government of Central Java is inviting fathers to accompany their children on the first day of school on 13 July 2026. Central Java Regional Secretary Sumarno stated in Semarang on Saturday that the appeal aligns with the ‘Fathers Accompanying Children on the First Day of School’ movement. According to him, the policy is a follow-up to Central Java Governor’s Circular Letter Number S/400.13.26/207/2026 dated 17 June 2026 concerning the ‘Fathers Collecting Children’s School Reports’ movement and the ‘Fathers Accompanying Children on the First Day of School’ movement. He explained that the time flexibility represents the government’s attention to employee welfare, which is not solely measured by salary or allowances. ‘The opportunity to accompany a child to school is also part of welfare for civil servants,’ Sumarno said. He noted that the moment of taking a child to school is an irreplaceable experience, especially when the child is still at the primary education level. He added that the morning roll call schedule within the Central Java Provincial Government would be adjusted so as not to prevent civil servants from accompanying their children. Through this policy, the provincial government is encouraging the active involvement of fathers in childcare, whilst strengthening family emotional bonds from an important moment at the start of the new school year.
