From hundreds of submissions, the Central Java Provincial Government has produced 51 policy briefs containing strategic recommendations to support the formulation of regional development policies.

The event was organised by the Central Java Provincial Government in collaboration with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). It attracted researchers, university academics and members of the public from across Indonesia.

The event culminated in the presentation of the 2026 Central Java Development Research Award (AKRP) and the Menulis Berdampak award. The ceremony was held at Gradhika Bhakti Praja in Semarang.

Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi stressed that regional development must be based on research. He said he hoped researchers’ work would not simply remain on paper.

“Research is the foundation of development here, so we will compile these findings and they will eventually become creative breakthroughs for regional development,” Luthfi said in a written statement on Thursday (15 October 2026).

According to Luthfi, research findings must be put into practice so that the public can directly benefit. He also said he hoped researchers would be ready to work with the regional government whenever called upon to support regional development.

“Research can at least help us mitigate the negative impacts of a programme at an early stage. This is what we value and appreciate,” he said.

At the awards ceremony, researchers also presented a number of strategic recommendations to the Central Java Provincial Government.

The recommendations addressed a range of pressing issues, including food security and the environment, the economy and micro and small businesses, and health.
