Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi hopes that the rice production target in his region will not miss its mark this year due to drought. The Central Java Provincial Government aims to achieve a production target of 10.5 million tonnes.

“Hopefully, it will not miss the target. I hope it does not miss,” Luthver stated when interviewed at the Central Java Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) office, when asked whether the impact of the drought could lower the rice production target in Central Java this year, on Tuesday (29/09/2026).

He revealed that, so far, total rice production in Central Java has almost reached eight million tonnes. “Hopefully, we can achieve the target,” he said.

Luthfi noted that the drought is indeed impacting both rain-fed and irrigated rice fields. Regarding rain-fed fields, he mentioned that he has requested assistance from the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) to carry out well-drilling operations. Additionally, assistance for agricultural land irrigation is being provided through water tanker facilities.

“We have mapped several areas and have already distributed aid. Today, we have distributed nearly 8.5 million litres to the community. This will continue to move in response to the situation and conditions in our region,” Luthfi added.
