Central Java Deputy Governor Taj Yasin Maimoen is promoting the development of the Red and White Cooperative (KMP) with a sharia economic basis, similar to the KMP in Tambakrejo Ward, Gayamsari Subdistrict, Semarang City. The development of the KMP in Tambakrejo, Semarang, is being carried out by the management with support from the Central Java Sharia Economic Community (MES Jateng). “I hope this is not just one; in the future, other sharia-based Red and White Cooperatives can grow and emerge,” he said during the National Seminar and Regional Deliberation of MES Jateng in Semarang on Saturday. In response to this initiative, the figure familiarly known as Gus Yasin expressed high appreciation to both the cooperative management and MES Jateng. According to him, the collaboration between the KMP management in Tambakrejo Ward and MES Jateng could serve as a pilot project, considering there are more than 8,000 Red and White Village/Ward Cooperatives in the province. He encouraged this pioneering effort to be implemented in 2026 to realise Central Java’s 2027 development theme, which focuses on sharia tourism and economy. The General Chairman of MES Jateng, Nyata Nugraha, stated that the collaboration with KMP Tambakrejo in Semarang City is the first breakthrough in Central Java. He hopes this step can serve as a model for the 12 MES managements in the regencies/cities of Central Java. Meanwhile, the General Secretary of Central MES, Ari Permana, said that MES will be at the forefront in Central Java to support the development programme in the region in 2027. “We in Jakarta are 100 percent ready to provide backup,” he said. During the event, Gus Yasin also visited an exhibition of UMKM products, such as Troso weaving, fashion, and culinary items fostered by MES Jateng, held around the event venue.
