Central Java Deputy Governor Orders Probe into SPPG Purchasing MBG Ingredients Below Government Reference Price
Central Java Deputy Governor Taj Yasin is pushing for an investigation into the practice of purchasing raw materials below the government reference price (HAP) by the Nutritional Fulfilment Service Units (SPPG). The statement was made after attending a coordination meeting on the absorption of local raw materials for the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme at the Central Java Provincial Government office in Semarang on Friday (19/6/2026). During the meeting, representatives of poultry farmers complained that SPPG units were buying chicken eggs below the HAP, a practice deemed detrimental to farmers, especially as the price of animal feed has soared significantly. Responding to this, Taj Yasin stated that the matter must be investigated. ‘We heard from farmers, layer breeders, from associations and cooperatives, that there have been purchases below the government reference price. This must be investigated,’ he said. He declined to blame any party, emphasising instead a commitment to prevent such occurrences in the future. ‘The important thing is that the farmers and egg associations have committed that this should not happen again going forward,’ he added. Yasin also revealed that to boost the absorption of local chicken meat and eggs, cooperatives, associations, and the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) have agreed on a menu schedule for the MBG programme in Central Java. In a week, chicken and eggs will each be served twice. ‘Therefore, all SPPG units in Central Java must comply with this,’ he asserted. He stressed that all SPPG units in the province must source their MBG raw materials from local farmers and breeders, whether they are part of cooperatives or associations, including layer and broiler associations. Yasin further emphasised that the purchase price of raw materials must adhere to the government reference price.
