PT Kustodian Sentral Efek Indonesia (KSEI) has stated that capital market investors in Central Java are dominated by the younger generation, including Gen Z, in line with the significant growth of young investors in the Indonesian capital market. “Capital market investors in Central Java are dominated by young investors aged under 30 and those aged 31-40 years, with a share of 82.97 per cent of the total 3.19 million investors,” said Abdul Azis Albakkar, Head of the KSEI Investor Services Education Unit, in Semarang on Tuesday during a capital market socialisation and education event held by KSEI together with the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) and the Indonesian Clearing and Guarantee Corporation (KPEI). KSEI is a depository and settlement institution in the Indonesian capital market that provides central custodian services and orderly, fair, and efficient securities transaction settlement. He mentioned that the growth of young investors nationally in the Indonesian capital market has also increased by 78.83 per cent since 2026. “Perhaps in the past, to transact in the capital market you needed a minimum of Rp10 million, and so on. Now, even Rp100,000 is enough. Access is easier via mobile phone or the internet,” he said. This means that young investors do not need to visit an office to open an account and conduct capital market transactions; they can do it simply through their gadgets. “They can monitor it, then use online trading at securities firms. While waiting for a lecture or other lessons, they can already participate in investing in the capital market,” he added.
