Central Java Capital Market Investors Dominated by Gen Z, Says KSEI

Semarang (ANTARA) - PT Kustodian Sentral Efek Indonesia (KSEI) has stated that capital market investors in Central Java (Jateng) are dominated by the younger generation, including Gen Z, in line with significant growth in young investors in the Indonesian capital market.

“Capital market investors in Central Java are dominated by young investors aged under 30 and those aged 31 to 40, accounting for 82.97 percent of a total of 3.19 million investors,” said Abdul Azis Albakkar, Head of KSEI’s Investor Services Education Unit, in Semarang on Tuesday, during a capital market socialisation and education event held by KSEI together with the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) and PT Kliring Penjaminan Efek Indonesia (KPEI).

KSEI is a depository and settlement institution (LPP) in the Indonesian capital market that provides central custodian services and the settlement of securities transactions in an orderly, fair and efficient manner.

He noted that the growth of young investors nationally in the Indonesian capital market has also increased by 78.83 percent since 2026.

“Perhaps in the past, transacting in the capital market required a minimum of Rp10 million and so on, but now even Rp100 thousand is enough. Access is easier via mobile phone or the internet,” he said.

This means young investors no longer need to visit an office to open an account and conduct capital market transactions, but can do so simply through their devices.

“They can also monitor their portfolios and use ‘online trading’ through securities firms. While waiting for lectures or other lessons, they can already invest in the capital market,” he said.
