Central Java BPS Denies Wage Payment Delays for 2026 Economic Census Enumerators
SEMARANG – The head of the Statistics Indonesia (BPS) office for Central Java province, Ali Said, has denied that there are delays in payments to partner enumerators involved in the 2026 Economic Census in Central Java. He stressed that their wages will definitely be paid in accordance with the regulations.
Ali revealed that BPS Central Java has been monitoring all issues developing in connection with the 2026 Economic Census, including the matter of delayed wages. “I need to clarify that the first instalment payment for Economic Census officers is not stalled. Payment of this honorarium cannot be done instantly,” he said in a written statement to Republika on Tuesday (21 July 2026).
He added that the partner enumerators must understand that the payment process takes time and must be accompanied by supporting evidence. Ali said the aspect of accountability is important because the disbursement of wages uses state funds. “Once again, we affirm that there has been no instance of stalled honorarium payments,” he said.
Ali explained that before the first instalment of wages is paid, the district and municipal BPS offices need to prepare progress data on the enumeration results carried out by each field officer. In this regard, they must complete at least 40 per cent of their workload, and the resulting data must correspond to actual field conditions.
According to Ali, completing the administration and payment process takes more than one day. He said that since 15 July 2026, district and municipal BPS offices across Central Java have been completing the administrative evidence required for the disbursement of enumerator wages.
“Some officers who are experienced in working as BPS partners certainly already know what the honorarium payment process at BPS is like. So I urge all officers not to worry about the payment of the honorarium that is their right. Everything will definitely be paid in accordance with the regulations,” Ali said.
