Central Java BPK Representative Office Head Caught in Klaten Regent’s KPK Sting
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) also arrested the head of the Central Java Representative Office of the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) in a sting operation in Klaten and Jakarta on Thursday (15 October).
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo said the commission had detained 20 people in total: 19 in Klaten and one in Jakarta.
Among those detained were Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo, Klaten regency government civil servants, BPK civil servants and private-sector individuals.
“Two of them are BPK civil servants. It is true that one of them is the head of the Central Java representative office,” Budi told reporters.
Budi explained that the case was suspected to involve receipts received by public officials in connection with the procurement of goods and services, licensing, or other receipts from regional government agencies (OPD).
There was also an allegation that the regent had made payments to a BPK official in connection with an audit.
“The examination or questioning is still at the investigation stage. We will follow the process together, as a case conference is scheduled for tonight,” Budi said.
