Central Java Audit Chief Implicated in Bribery Case; BPK Says It Will Not Protect Members Clearly at Fault
JAKARTA — Indonesia’s Audit Board (BPK) has responded to the naming of its Central Java provincial head, Ahmad Luthfi, as a suspect in an alleged corruption case involving Klaten Regent Hamenang Wajar Ismoyo. BPK said it was ready to support the investigation and would not protect Luthfi.
BPK said Luthfi was named a suspect over alleged involvement in a corruption offence related to the audit of the Klaten Regency Government’s 2025 financial statements.
“BPK is acting cooperatively and is ready to provide full support in the form of data and information required by law enforcement authorities, in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations,” the board said in a written statement on Saturday (17 October 2026).
BPK added that law enforcement by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) was part of a shared commitment and coordinated effort to eradicate corruption. “Internally, BPK is acting firmly and will not protect employees proven to have committed a violation,” it said.
“BPK assures that employees allegedly involved in this incident will be subject to proceedings by the BPK Honour Council for the Code of Ethics (MKKE) and civil servant disciplinary reviews, with sanctions imposed in accordance with the applicable rules,” the board said.
