Semarang – The Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs for Central Java and D.I. Yogyakarta has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting export-oriented industry growth by granting the Ease of Import for Export Purposes (KITE) exemption facility to PT Guna Citra Kartika, a company specialising in the processing and preservation of fish and aquatic organisms in canned form with primary export markets in the United States.

The provision of this KITE exemption facility represents one of the government’s strategic steps to enhance the competitiveness of national industry in global markets. Through this facility, the company can obtain exemptions from import duties and is not subject to taxation on the importation of raw materials that will be processed into export products. This policy is expected to promote production cost efficiency whilst increasing the volume of Indonesia’s fishery product exports.

PT Guna Citra Kartika has recorded an investment value of Rp25,737,236,765. This investment value demonstrates the company’s commitment to developing business activities in the fishery processing sector, which has significant potential in international markets. As the business develops and export demand increases, the company’s investment value is projected to continue growing in the future.

Beyond contributing to export growth, the company’s presence also generates positive impacts for regional economics. Currently, PT Guna Citra Kartika has absorbed approximately 230 local workers, and this figure is projected to increase as the company expands its production capacity.

The Head of the Regional Office of Customs for Central Java and D.I. Yogyakarta stated that the provision of the KITE exemption facility represents a form of government support for export-oriented business actors whilst promoting regional economic growth.

“This facility is expected to enhance the competitiveness of national industry in international markets, expand exports of Indonesian fishery products, and provide multiplier effects for regional economics through increased investment and labour absorption,” he said.

Through the provision of this facility, Customs hopes that increasingly more companies will utilise various fiscal conveniences provided by the government to strengthen domestic industry, increase exports, and create new employment opportunities for society.

Going forward, the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Customs for Central Java and D.I. Yogyakarta will continue to play an active role in providing assistance and facilities to business actors, particularly those with export orientation, to support sustainable national economic growth.
