Central Java Accelerates Renewable Energy and Waste Management Investment, Ahmad Luthfi Extends Offer to Chinese Entrepreneurs
JAKARTA — Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi continues to promote investment potential in his region to investors, both domestic and foreign.
One such opportunity arose when he attended a dinner reception for the Exchange of Political and Business Leaders between China and Indonesia, part of the prestigious DBA Entrepreneur Scholar Programme from Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB) Cohort 12, held at the Grand Hyatt in Jakarta on Friday, 22 May 2026.
The event was attended by dozens of Chinese entrepreneurs who have already invested in Indonesia.
During the occasion, Ahmad Luthfi expressed his appreciation for organising the event. He invited the entrepreneurs to visit Central Java, particularly given that the province is open to investment.
To illustrate, investment in Central Java in 2025 reached 110.02 trillion rupiah, comprising foreign direct investment (FDI) of 50.86 trillion rupiah, domestic direct investment (DDI) of 37.64 trillion rupiah, and small and medium enterprise (SME) investment of 21.52 trillion rupiah. By the first quarter of 2026, investment had already reached 23.02 trillion rupiah, with economic growth reaching 5.89 per cent.
Currently, there are approximately seven industrial zones and special economic zones scattered across various districts and cities. Additionally, 12 regions are preparing new industrial and special economic zones to support investment and economic development.
“China is one of the highest-origin countries for investment in Central Java, with a value of approximately 10.13 trillion rupiah,” he stated.
Luthfi emphasised Central Java’s commitment to developing new renewable energy (NRE) and waste management. There are approximately seven projects ready to be offered to investors in the renewable energy sector. These include solar power plants (PLTS), micro-hydroelectric power, biogas, biomass, swamp gas, waste-to-energy, and geothermal.
“We are opening wide opportunities for waste management investment in Central Java, which will assist us in renewable energy,” he said.
Meanwhile, CEO of PT WOOK Global Technology, Cu Longhua, stated that the meeting of entrepreneurs from various industries needs to be continually expanded. The companies present offer high-quality industrial resources that are highly compatible and can be deeply implemented, including ecological protection and solid waste resources that are compacted, utilising mining for ecological restoration, new energy industries, digital technology, advanced manufacturing, and modern agriculture.
“Currently, President Prabowo is enthusiastically promoting waste management—such as turning it into electricity generation. We are a leading company in this industry in China,” he said.
Meanwhile, CEO of PT AAC Technologies Holding, Benjamin Pan, stated that as one of the largest economies in Southeast Asia, Indonesia offers a vast market space, an excellent development environment, and enormous growth potential.
“We see unlimited possibilities for collaboration,” he said.
