Central Jakarta Strengthens Cross-Sector Collaboration to Accelerate Stunting Reduction

The Central Jakarta City Government is strengthening cross-sector collaboration to accelerate stunting reduction through synergy, aiming for more effective and targeted interventions. Central Jakarta City Secretary Denny Ramdany stated that stunting is not merely a matter of a child’s height not matching their age, but also relates to the quality of human resources, which will affect health, intelligence, productivity, and competitiveness. “Stunting reduction must be carried out in an integrated and comprehensive manner, involving elements of government, the business sector, academia, community organisations, and community members,” Denny said in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday. Denny noted that all regional apparatuses and stakeholders have a clear role in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating both specific and sensitive interventions in an integrated way. He explained that efforts to accelerate the reduction of stunting prevalence require concrete actions, ranging from improving access to clean water and proper sanitation, strengthening family food security, parenting education, and social protection, to family empowerment and enhancing the quality of maternal and child health services. Denny also requested that the Central Jakarta Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team continue to strengthen synergy, align perceptions, identify field obstacles, and formulate measurable strategic steps. He invited all parties to move together so that Central Jakarta can contribute to achieving the national target for reducing stunting prevalence. “I am confident Central Jakarta can make a real contribution to achieving the stunting reduction target and produce a healthy, intelligent, superior generation ready to welcome Indonesia Emas 2045,” he said. Meanwhile, Head of the Central Jakarta Empowerment, Child Protection, and Population Control Sub-agency, Novia Silmiati, said that based on the 2025 Carik Jakarta Dashboard, there are 5,122 stunted toddlers out of a total of 18,558 toddlers in Central Jakarta. Additionally, 4,959 families at risk of stunting are targeted by various intervention programmes. According to Novia, the Central Jakarta City Government has also deployed 44 Family Assistance Teams that actively assist pregnant women, prospective brides, postpartum mothers, infants, and toddlers across all urban villages. She assessed that this data serves as a reminder that accelerating stunting reduction requires a shared commitment to strengthen coordination and ensure each regional apparatus performs its role optimally so that interventions are truly targeted. “Family assistance, nutritional fulfilment, parenting education, and strengthening interventions in the first 1,000 days of life must be continuously reinforced,” she said.
