Central Jakarta Police Uncover Alleged Extortion Case Against Young Entrepreneur
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Metro Police of Central Jakarta (Jakpus) have uncovered a case of alleged extortion and threats against a young entrepreneur with the initials VL, which was reportedly carried out by a lawyer with the initials BP. The Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, AKBP Roby Hery Saputra, said in Jakarta on Thursday that the case has now reached the stage of file transfer to the prosecutor’s office. “It is already at the stage of handing over the file to the Central Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office,” said Roby. Meanwhile, the victim, young entrepreneur VL, stated that the extortion occurred in February 2026. At that time, he claimed he was invited to meet the perpetrator along with four other people at a hotel in Jakarta. After the meeting, VL said he was taken on a drive around Jakarta. While passing through the Benyamin Sueb Road area in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, he was asked to hand over Rp500 million. However, this demand was later reduced to Rp60 million. Not only that, the perpetrators also threatened not to take him home if the demand was not met. After handing over Rp60 million, VL was dropped off in the Jalan Raya Puncak area, Bogor. “The extortion and threats against me carried out by a lawyer named Bangun Paulus Tudungta have been quite traumatic for me,” VL revealed. In the police report, the person reported was named regarding alleged criminal acts of threatening, as stipulated in Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code. Meanwhile, Bangun Paulus Tudungta admitted he only received information about the case transfer to the prosecutor’s office late on Wednesday night. However, he did not provide a response regarding the substance of the case ensnaring him. “I just got the info last midnight. Please pray for me everyone,” Paulus said briefly, as he was about to be transferred to the Central Jakarta District Prosecutor’s Office.
