Central Jakarta Police Uncover 12 Narcotics Cases in June 2026
The Narcotics Investigation Unit of the Central Jakarta Metro Police has uncovered 12 drug trafficking cases during June 2026, arresting 15 suspects and seizing various types of evidence, including crystal methamphetamine, cannabis, ecstasy, and hard pharmaceuticals. Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Senior Commissioner Reynold EP Hutagalung, stated that the disclosures are part of the police’s commitment to eradicating the illicit drug trade in the Central Jakarta area. “We will not give even the smallest space to drug dealers or traffickers in the Central Jakarta region,” Reynold said during a press conference at the Central Jakarta Metro Police headquarters on Wednesday. On the same occasion, Deputy Chief of Central Jakarta Metro Police, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Eko Yulianto, noted that among all the disclosures, four prominent cases were successfully dismantled by the Narcotics Unit. The first case involved the uncovering of a Jakarta network distributing 1,022.3 grammes of crystal methamphetamine, with suspect RN (32) arrested in the Pasar Baru area, Central Jakarta. The next prominent case was the dismantling of a Padang-Jakarta cannabis network, with 13.341 kilogrammes of cannabis seized as evidence. In that case, police arrested AP (41) and MM (22) in the Lubang Buaya area, Cipayung, East Jakarta. Another disclosure occurred in the Kapuk area, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, where officers secured suspect SB (44) along with evidence including 4,290 Happy Five (H5) pills, 1,005 ecstasy pills, 425 grammes of crystal methamphetamine, 40 etomidate cartridges, three digital scales, and one mobile phone. The suspects are charged under Law Number 35 of 2009 on Narcotics and Law Number 17 of 2023 on Health, as amended by Law Number 1 of 2026 on Criminal Adjustments, with maximum penalties including the death penalty, life imprisonment, or a maximum of 20 years in prison. “These disclosures are a form of the Central Jakarta Metro Police’s commitment to eradicating the illicit narcotics trade,” Eko asserted.
