Central Jakarta Police Destroy 28.3 kg of Cannabis and 3.3 kg of Methamphetamine

The Central Jakarta Metro Police have destroyed evidence from five narcotics cases and two dangerous drug cases uncovered by the force’s Narcotics Investigation Unit. The destroyed evidence included 28.3 kilograms of cannabis, 3.3 kilograms of methamphetamine, 17,057 ecstasy pills, 15.32 grams of synthetic tobacco, 1,044 etomidate cartridges, and 7,972 dangerous drug pills. Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Commissioner Reynold EP Hutagalung, stated that firm action is continuously taken against drug trafficking networks in the jurisdiction, alongside prevention efforts through education and synergy with the community to break the chain of narcotics distribution.

In addition to the narcotics cases, the unit also handled eight cases involving the distribution of hard drugs during June 2026, resulting in the arrest of nine suspects. The Head of the Narcotics Investigation Unit, AKBP Wisnu S Kuncoro, explained that eradication efforts are not solely focused on law enforcement but also prioritise prevention to reduce drug abuse. His unit is intensifying awareness campaigns about the dangers of narcotics in schools and communities, while encouraging residents to actively report any suspected drug activity in their neighbourhoods. He noted that the case disclosures in June 2026 are estimated to have saved around 35,000 people from potential drug abuse. Wisnu stressed that no room will be given to drug lords or dealers, and that synergy between the police and the community is key to severing the narcotics distribution chain.
