Central Jakarta Police Deploy 7,345 Personnel to Secure Harkitnas Rally
Jakarta, ANTARA — The Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polres Metro Jakarta Pusat) has deployed 7,345 combined personnel to secure a rally commemorating National Awakening Day (Harkitnas) at several locations within its jurisdiction. The Central Jakarta Police Chief, Kombes Pol Reynold E. P. Hutagalung, said security would be carried out to the maximum with a humane and persuasive approach to ensure the demonstration proceeds safely and orderly.
“We have prepared 7,345 personnel to secure the rally,” he said in Jakarta on Wednesday. “Security will be conducted professionally, humane, and prioritising persuasive measures.”
According to him, the security operation is a service by the Police to guarantee the public’s right to express opinions in public in accordance with applicable rules. “We respect the public’s right to express their aspirations. However, we also urge participants to remain orderly, not anarchic, and to comply with the applicable rules,” he added.
Regarding traffic, the police will implement situational traffic management tailored to ground conditions, particularly around the DPR/MPR RI offices. “Traffic around the DPR/MPR RI offices will be diverted on a situational basis. We urge the public who will be passing through to seek alternative routes to avoid congestion,” he said.
In addition, the public are asked to remain vigilant and follow officers’ instructions to ensure smooth conduct of the joint activity. Road users are urged to comply with officers’ directions, stay safe, and adjust their travel routes accordingly.
The Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police assure that security will be maintained until all activities have concluded to keep the kamtibmas (security and public order) situation safe and conducive.
