Central Jakarta police chief
Central Jakarta police chief
From Kompas
We were startled upon reading in a number of newspapers such as Pos Kota about an SCTV reporter being interrogated by Central Jakarta police chief Lt. Col. H.M. Ibrahim at the time the television reporter was covering the Kilat Jaya operations in the Tanah Abang area recently. The police officer angrily asked questions such as "Where did you get the permit to cover this operation?"
It happened before when the officer was police chief in North Jakarta and was leading a similar operation at Hailai, Ancol. He completely ignored a reporter who showed his press card issued by the Indonesian Journalists' Association (PWI).
If such things continue to take place, I am afraid the consensus between the RI chief of police and PWI Jakarta in 1978 has been forgotten by police officers. As a member of PWI Jakarta, I am concerned about the attitude of some police officers recently.
I would like to express my respect to Maj. Gen. (ret) Koesparmono Irsan, who in his capacity as director of investigation of Police Headquarters until his retirement, always showed a friendly attitude towards journalists. He should serve as a model for other officers.
