Central Jakarta Police Bust Drug Ring, 5.2kg of Crystal Meth Seized
The Narcotics Unit of the Central Jakarta Metro Police has seized 5.2 kilograms, or 5,244.5 grams, of crystal methamphetamine (sabu) during an operation to uncover a narcotics distribution ring. Two men, identified by the initials KD (22) and AJH (34), were arrested in connection with the case.
“The Central Jakarta Metro Police will continue our efforts in prevention and enforcement against narcotics distribution. We invite the community to join us in the fight against drugs and not to hesitate in reporting any suspected narcotics crimes,” stated the Chief of Central Jakarta Metro Police, Kombes Reynold Hutagalung, in a statement on Saturday (12/09/2026).
The case came to light on Thursday afternoon (20/08) in the Duri Kosambi area, Cengkareng, West Jakarta. Police initially apprehended KD and conducted a search.
During the search, officers discovered two plastic clip bags containing white crystals suspected to be methamphetamine, weighing 2,093.2 grams. The illegal substances were being stored by KD inside a blue goodie bag.
Police subsequently expanded their investigation and, at approximately 17:30 WIB, searched the residence of AJH in the Duri Kosambi area. From that location, police found three blue packages containing methamphetamine weighing 3,151.3 grams.
“In total, the seized evidence reaches a net weight of 5,244.5 grams, with an estimated value of approximately Rp5.24 billion,” said Reynold.
Reynold emphasised that the role of the public is vital in assisting the police to uncover narcotics distribution. He urged citizens to report immediately if they become aware of any suspected drug transactions or distribution.
“The community’s role is very important. We must not let narcotics destroy the future of the younger generation. We invite all members of the public to work together to protect the environment and report to the police immediately if they suspect narcotics distribution,” he added.
Based on preliminary investigations, KD and AJH are suspected of acting as intermediaries in the sale of methamphetamine. Police are still investigating the distribution routes and the network of controllers behind the two suspects.
Both individuals face charges under Article 114 paragraph (2) subsidiary Article 112 paragraph (2) and Article 111 paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics. They face the threat of heavy criminal penalties.
