Central Jakarta police arrest tramadol dealer, seize 500 tablets
JAKARTA — A 37-year-old man identified as AR is suspected of distributing tramadol and was arrested by police in Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta, on Friday evening (29 May 2026).
Police seized 500 tramadol tablets believed to be intended for distribution by the suspect.
AR was apprehended by the Metropolitan Jakarta Pusat Police Narcotics Unit around 11pm WIB at Jatibaru 10 Street.
“After conducting an investigation, officers successfully secured one suspect along with hundreds of tramadol tablets carried in a black plastic bag,” said Police Chief Kombes Pol Reynold E. P. Hutagalung.
In addition to securing the evidence, police conducted a urine test on the suspect.
“Urine tests revealed the suspect tested positive for methamphetamine. We are currently investigating the source of the drugs and expanding the investigation to uncover the network involved in the illegal distribution of controlled substances,” said Wisnu.
Investigators are currently conducting intensive interrogations of the suspect to trace the origin of the evidence and potential involvement of others in the illegal drug distribution network.
