The Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in Central Jakarta will use funds raised through the 2026 PMI Fund Month programme to strengthen various humanitarian services in 2027.

Chairman of PMI Central Jakarta, Asep Juanda, said the funds will support ambulance and disaster response services, health services, as well as strengthening the Youth Red Cross (PMR), volunteer, and organisational programmes.

“One of our programmes in 2027 is the addition of one advanced ambulance unit equipped with medical equipment such as a ventilator, infusion devices, oxygen, and other supporting equipment,” Asep said in his statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Asep said PMI Central Jakarta currently has three evacuation ambulances and two hearse ambulances.

From January to 18 August 2026, PMI Central Jakarta’s ambulance services have been used to assist 1,984 residents.

To support the improvement of these services, PMI Central Jakarta is targeting fundraising through the 2026 PMI Fund Month to reach Rp5.5 billion.

Asep said PMI Central Jakarta is also cooperating with private partners to collect donations through 21 retail outlets spread across Central Jakarta and other areas.

In addition, PMI Central Jakarta will collaborate with the Central Jakarta Industry, Trade, Cooperatives, and Small and Medium Enterprises Sub-Department (PPKUKM) to explore cooperation with shopping centre managers.

“The placement of drop boxes and fundraising media will target shopping centres spread across Central Jakarta,” Asep said.

He expressed hope that support from various parties can help achieve the fundraising target while strengthening PMI Central Jakarta’s capacity to provide services to the public in 2027.

PMI Fund Month is an official and regular voluntary donation collection movement or programme held annually by the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) in cooperation with local governments.

This programme typically runs for one to three months to collect funds from the public to finance various humanitarian activities.
