Central Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Class I Non TPI Immigration Office in Central Jakarta held the “Kanim Jakpus Goes To School” activity at SMA Negeri 10 Jakarta, as part of efforts to increase understanding among the younger generation, particularly students, about immigration matters and to cultivate legal awareness from an early age. “We want to introduce the functions of immigration more closely to the students,” said the Head of the Immigration Technology, Information, and Communication Section (Tikim) of the Class I Non TPI Immigration Office in Central Jakarta, Bismo Surono, in Jakarta on Wednesday. According to him, the activity is one form of the Central Jakarta Immigration Office’s commitment to bringing immigration services and education closer to the public, especially students as the nation’s future generation. Through this educative and interactive activity, Bismo continued, students were provided with an understanding of immigration functions, the importance of travel documents such as passports, and education on the security and legality of travelling abroad. He conveyed that this activity is part of efforts to build closeness between government institutions and students through an educative and communicative approach. “We want to provide an understanding that a passport is not just a travel document, but also an official national identity that must be protected and used responsibly,” he stated. Meanwhile, the Head of the Verification and Adjudication Subsection for Travel Documents, Iqbal Romzah, provided education on the meaning of passports, types of passports, passport application procedures, and the importance of maintaining the security of travel documents. The students were also given information on passport requirements, the use of the M Paspor application, and tips for safe travel abroad. In addition to material presentations, the activity proceeded interactively through a question-and-answer session that was enthusiastically received by the students. “Through the ‘Kanim Jakpus Goes To School’ programme, the Class I Non TPI Immigration Office in Central Jakarta hopes that immigration education can reach a wider audience and build a young generation that is intelligent, legally aware, and ready to face global challenges,” he said.
