Central Jakarta Government Restores Green Belt Function in Jati Pinggir

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Central Jakarta City Administration has commenced the restoration of the green belt function in the Jati Pinggir area, Petamburan Urban Village, Tanah Abang, by dismantling non-residential buildings located on the West Flood Canal (BKB) riverbank.

Central Jakarta Assistant for Economy and Development, Suprayogie, stated that the restoration is part of green open space (RTH) planning, which has undergone a socialisation process with stakeholders since last year.

“Today’s enforcement is for the arrangement of the Jati Pinggir green open space. This was socialised through focus group discussions around October to November last year, three times,” Suprayogie said in Jakarta on Wednesday.

He explained that 481 personnel were deployed for the activity, with the work divided into three segments to make the restoration process more effective.

Suprayogie confirmed that no residential homes were demolished during the operation. The affected structures include a community hall, security posts, and several other non-residential buildings, totalling approximately seven to eight units.

He noted that residents who previously traded in the area will still be provided with business spaces after undergoing a curation process.

The area being reorganised spans approximately 1,021 metres in length and will be developed into a green open space equipped with various public facilities.

According to him, the area will feature a jogging track, sports facilities, a community hall, and public spaces for community use.

“Priority is given to Petamburan residents. Their merchandise will be curated and later placed according to the arrangement designed by the Parks and Urban Forest Sub-agency,” he said.

Once all buildings have been completely dismantled, the Central Jakarta Parks and Urban Forest Sub-agency will immediately commence the area’s landscaping work.

Suprayogie estimated that the restoration process will take approximately one week, while the construction of the green open space is expected to require more than three months.

To ensure the area remains in accordance with its designation, subsequent supervision will involve stakeholders in the Petamburan area.

“Once completed, it will be handed back to Petamburan stakeholders to jointly maintain and supervise,” he said.
